History
For anyone travelling along the celebrated Grands Crus Wine Route in Burgundy, it is impossible to miss the prestigious Maison Moillard. Located at the entrance to Nuits-Saint-Georges, capital of the prestigious Cte de Nuits area, it is adorned with a magnificent mosaic fresco, created for its 150th anniversary, which highlights the historical faade of the Cellars and the shop.

Over the centuries, the Moillard, Thomas-Moillard and Moillard-Grivot families have built up the reputation of the Maison, patiently adding the constituent parts of a fine wine growing domain and one of the greatest cellars of the Cte de Nuits.

Today, Maison Moillard has become a veritable institution in Nuits-Saint-Georges. It owns a 11.5 hectare domain in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Savigny-les-Beaune, Cte de Nuits Village and Hautes-Ctes de Nuits. The oenologists of Maison Moillard select the finest grapes from the best plots to give expression to the terroirs and Climats of Burgundy in all their diversity. Thanks to the ties formed over the years between Maison Moillard and the vineyard, they express the know-how passed down over several generations in the production and ageing of Burgundys wines and crmants.
Regional Information
Auxey-Duresses (pronounced Aussey) stands at the entrance to a valley which runs from the Cte de Beaune into the Hautes Ctes, following the road that leads from Beaune to Autun amongst hump-backed hillsides. Together with its hamlets of Petit-Auxey and Mlian, Auxey-Duresses is incontestably one of Bourgognes Celtic and Gallo-Roman wine-growing districts. It was formerly an outlying property of the abbey of Cluny, producing both grains and grapes. The corn-mills have now gone but there are still wine presses. Auxey-Duresses was granted its AOC status in 1937.
